When the first day of school finally came up, I made plans to ride with a friend to school. Instead of coming to pick me up past 7 o'clock, she came to pick me and my sister an hour earlier before school started. She did not want to be "late" on her first day of school, so she decided going an hour earlier would be such a great idea. As we slowly pulled up to the school my first thought was "please don't stop!" It's to early to be at school at this hour and it literally was, because the three of us were the forth people to arrive on campus. The next day she offered to pick me and my sister up and thinking she wouldn't go as early again, I accepted. Once again she came forty-five minutes earlier before the school bell would ring.
After those two days I just declined the next time she offered to pick me up ! From those two days I formed an opinion about her and kind-of judged her for being so early when school started. The same thing happened with some of students that are in my school, I didn't know every single person that I would have classes with in this semester. As students walked through the door into their seats, I had already formed an opinion about them. Sometimes the opinions I formed about other classmates didn't exactly apply to them, so after the first week of school I learned not to judge people based on their appearances. I can't judge or form an opinion about someone if I had never talked to them or knew them personally.
During my first week of school I realized I need to take school work more seriously and try to focus on my weaknesses. In order to do so my study habits and time management skills need to improve significantly. My classes this semester are a lot harder than they were my freshmen and sophomore year, and memorizing facts is not going to cut it. My A-Push class opened my eyes to the fact that my senior year is right around the corner and I need to be able to understand things by a "level six". By the time I'm in college if I'm not able to process or understand work at a level six then I am going to have a really hard time passing
My goal for this school year is to maintain a positive outlook on my classes and not procrastinate on my work. I also want to pull up my rank and be in the top ten of my class. It's might not be easy and I know there's going to be a lot of competition but I have confidence in myself that I can do it. I know that I'm better in some topics and struggle with others, so I need to find techniques that makes leaning information in some classes easier. I made a goal for myself the first week of school that if I ever needed help I wouldn't hesitate to go to tutoring or get help from other students.
